Assembly Tips

Thank You for purchasing Dr. Loboto.

As you unpack your sculpture, take a good look to make sure that everything is in order. We work hard to ensure that each piece that leaves our studio is complete and undamaged. If you do run into any problems, please call us immediately.

Assembly of Dr. Loboto can be a little tricky. Be sure to test fit all pieces before gluing.

  1. Before assembling your kit, remove any flash (excess resin around the seams) with an X-acto knife.

  2. Clean up any seam lines or imperfections with small files, sand paper, and A/B putty (available in hobby shops and hardware stores).

  3. Be sure to wash all of the parts completely using dish soap and water. This is an important step. Don't skip it!

  4. Once the parts are completely dry, spray them with a quality primer.

  5. If the primer reveals any imperfections that you didn't spot before, now is the time to clean them and re-prime. You can use spot putty (available in hobby shops and paint supply stores) for filling fine holes and scratches.

  6. This kit is probably best base coated in pieces, then assembled.

  7. For the best results, use an airbrush for the large areas. Be sure that each coat is dry before applying the next. If you don't have an airbrush, a can of silver spray paint can give a decent base coat.

  8. Carefully glue the short neck to the long neck then attach the brain. Use cyanoacrylate (Super Glue) or epoxy cement. For a better bond, scrape any paint from the surfaces to be glued. Use this assembly to determine the best position before gluing to the base.

  9. The last step before detail painting is installing the wire. We've included 3 sizes of uncut wire so you have plenty to play around with. A note to the wise: Only the thinnest wire will fit into the small holes in the base. Use the photo as a guide, but hey, don't let us stop you. This kit is ripe with customization possibilities.

  10. A little wash with black and rust and you're set.
